We're still here...

Okay, so it's been a long time since I've blogged. We've been pretty busy exploring Colorado. But, here's what we've been up to for the last 3 months. Maxwell turned one at the end of May. The lucky boy had 3 birthday celebrations and 3 cakes. He actually didn't really like the cake and gave most of it to "dog, dog."
We've been spending most of our Tuesdays hiking and exploring the trails around Boulder. Here we are on the mesa just before a storm rolls in. Max loves to be in the backpack.
We went up to the mountains in June for the Frisco Barbeque Festival. We drove over Loveland Pass and at the top we ran into these crazy guys who were longboarding down Loveland pass. We followed them all the way down, they went up to 40 mph. That's crazy :)
Hiking in Eldorado Canyon which is pretty close to our house. It's a popular place for rock climbers...

Kili is slowly becoming more friendly with Max. Max loves to brush Kili and surprisingly Kili will allow it. Max has also figured out where Kili's treats are kept in the cupboard and likes to open the jar and give one to Kili. The treats have definitely helped the situation! Max's first word was "dog, dog" and he loves to bark at Kili.
Max refuses to be fed now, and he loves to use the spoon. As a result, he ends up wearing most of his food and giving the other half to "dog, dog". Here he is wearing the every fashionable spaghettios.
We spent the 4th of July in Louisville. We biked to the community festival during the day, went to a barbeque in Boulder at night and then we watched the fireworks from our driveway. Louisville's fireworks are set off at the golfcourse which is a block from our house, so we had a prime viewing area from our driveway. It worked out well since the fireworks were well past Max's bedtime. He slept through the whole thing.
We have recently been enjoying our community pool. Max loves playing in the kiddie pool.
In case you haven't heard, we are expecting #2 on November 11th!

Still snowing...

It snowed over a foot today. Mom has to drive less than a mile to work, but she had trouble making it in because Colorado doesn't seem to own snowplows like they do in Minnesota. Mom got a half day off of work because of all of the snow...it was awesome.
I didn't go outside in the snow. I left all of the shoveling to Kili and Daddy. I love sticking my tongue out now, especially when I'm concentrating on something...

St Patricks Day

Daddy went snowboarding in a Kilt for St Patrick's Day. Mommy thought he was crazy, but Daddy thought it was funny. He said he didn't get too cold and he even fell a couple of times. He was lucky it was warm up in the mountains that day. While daddy was snowboarding with Dan and Jess, Mommy and I went shopping at the outlets. We got some great deals!

Mommy and daddy haven't been taking very many pictures of me lately, so they haven't been blogging very much. Mom has been busy with work and Dad has been busy teaching me how to do things like crawl up the stairs. I'm crawling, scooting and will even stand for a few seconds. I've recently decided that I no longer like baby food and will only eat table foods that I can feed myself. That's all for now. Hopefully they will get the camera out and document my life sometime soon so you can see some new pictures :)

In case you haven't heard, here is what has happened in the last two months...
Mom and Dad went snowboarding at Keystone. They were having a fun day, until...

Mom fell and broke both of her wrists. She had to ride down on the ski patrol sled. She said it was pretty scary because they went down fast and she felt like she was going to fall off.
They were bad breaks, and she had to have surgery on both arms. Here she is drugged up in the ER with all of the pain meds.
There were pins in one of the arms, this is at the doctors office before they pulled the pins out with a pliers. Now, both of her casts are off and she can pick me up again! She was off of work for 6 weeks, but is back at work now. Dad's still home with me during the day, it's so much fun!
Even with all of the drama, we were able to have 2 nice Christmas celebrations. Here I am with Granny in Colorado.

I'm getting to be a big boy. I drink out of a sippy cup and love to read stories! Mom had girls weekend with her high school friends and I was a big flirt all weekend. It was nice for dad to get away for a little bit since he had been taking care of two babies in the house because mom couldn't do anything for herself with two casts on. He went up to the mountains and snowboarded with the boys.
When we were in Minnesota, Grandma gave me some vintage bibs and toys that she had been saving since my mom was a little baby. Here I am in a vintage hat with some vintage keys.
Life is pretty much back to normal now. It sure was an interesting winter. Mom and Dad had a ceremony in the basement to retire mom's snowboard. It is now hanging on the wall. She'll probably ski in the future, but she's going to be way to scared to snowboard again. That's all for now...

POWDER DAY!!

So last night we got 8" of new snow and everything is so white today. Daddy had to go out and shovel the driveway, he says it was easy but it still took him quite a while to get it done.

Kili was so excited about the fresh snow that he did a bunch of laps in the back yard and got so tired that he just sat down in the snow, it looked cold to me but he didn't seem to really mind, must be that coat of his.

Daddy also got really excited as well, after he rested from shoveling that is, he searched high and low throughout the whole house looking for his ski goggles only to find out that I was wearing them since I also want to go play in the snow.

Christmas tree!

We went to the mountains and cut down our Christmas tree this weekend. Don't worry, my parents had permission to cut it down because it was part of a program to thin the forest on the open space. We had to search for a little while to find a good tree...but in the end we got one.

I fell asleep in the Bjorn.

Here's the finished product. It's a little bit like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree, but not bad for having been cut right from the woods. My brother was sitting with his two pretend friends in front of the tree. Can you tell which one is real?

Turkey Day!

We flew to Minnesota for Thanksgiving where we had two Thanksgiving dinners. The first was a brunch at Interlachen, followed by round two at my grandparents house. I was passed around the table from person to person, but I didn't really mind. It was fun to play with everyone. Here I am with my grandma, Uncle Scott and my mom.

My Aunt Kelsey loves me very much and I love her too (even though I don't look very happy in this picture.) I didn't get to eat any turkey, but I did get some baby food bananas. I'm not sure if I like bananas yet or not. But, I do enjoy a good bowl of oatmeal or rice cereal.

My grandparents were nice enough to babysit me while my parents went out with their friends. It was nice for them to get out since we don't know any babysitters in Colorado yet. My parents even ran in the Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving day. They said that living at a high altitude made up for their lack of training for the race. We're having a great time in Minnesota, only one more day and then we fly back to Colorado.

This weekend I had friends come into town and visit me. Lily and Cohen (and their parents Andy and Steph) came from Minnesota. And, Talie (and Amy and Andy) came from Missouri. Everyone stayed at my house for the weekend, it was so much fun. We went on to Rocky Mountain National Park and went on a hike around a lake. I got to go off-roading in the B.O.B. stroller.

Today, mommy and daddy took me to Boulder Falls. We went on a short hike to see the waterfall. It is 70 degrees and sunny here. Mommy and daddy are loving the Colorado weather.

I like to eat the Bjorn, daddy thinks I must be teething. But, mommy doesn't feel any yet!

I had a fun Halloween! Daddy took me to Mommy's work so I could see all of the Doctors and Nurses dressed up in their Disney princess outfits. Mommy said that it was only acceptable for Pediatricians to dress up for Halloween. She said it would be pretty funny if the Orthopedic surgeons dressed up as princesses. Then, I got to see all of the trick-or-treaters that came to our door. Maybe next year I can trick-or-treat...

Mommy and daddy found a new dog park for Kili to play in. They say it is not as big as the Mississippi river dog park, but it sure does have a nice view. Luckily, it is only a few minutes from our house so we go there a lot.
They also say that they are going to move into this house that is next to the dog park. Somehow, I don't believe them...
Mommy was a little worried when she saw this sign about the Plague. She won't let Kili go off-leash on the open space because she doesn't want him to get it. I guess it's the prairie dogs that are suspected to carry the plague...
Here's another picture from when Grandma was visiting. I like to play with blocks now. I am also choosing to roll over and sleep on my belly most nights...I can't wait until I start crawling!

Grandma, grandpa and Aunt Kelsey came to visit me from Minnesota. We had so much fun! We went up to Breckenridge. Aunt Kelsey has a friend who has a really nice cabin up there and she was kind enough to let us use it. We went on a long hike and I got to go in the Bjorn with Mommy. Aunt Kelsey was so nice, she let me wear her sunglasses :)

Aunt Kelsey had to push Mommy up the mountain. She was so tired because I weigh 18 lbs and was really heavy to carry.

I was really tired at the end of the hike and slept the whole way down the mountain.

We also went on a V.I.P. tour of the Coors brewery. Grandma and Grandpa have a friend from college who works there and he got us the special treatment! Daddy says he wants to be a brewmaster. But, I don't want him to work. I like it that he stays at home to play with me all day.

I like to try to get all of my fingers in my mouth at one time!

Grandpa found his new job now that he's retired. He's going to work in quality control as a taste tester...

They even stamped my hand at the brewery. Mommy and Daddy thought that was pretty funny. We had so much fun with mommy's family. I hope they come again soon!

Mommy's Birthday

Yesterday was Mommy's 30th Birthday. We were going to go to Pike's Peak but it was too rainy out, so we went to the New Belgium Brewery instead. I thought I was going to be the only baby there, but I wasn't. I was so happy because I was in the Bjorn...the other baby had to be in a stroller.

Daddy showed me how they brewed the beer. I wasn't very interested in that, because I can't drink any for a long time. However, I really liked to look at the lights on the ceiling.
The glass with the beer in it was really interesting to look at. I kept trying to knock it out of mommy's hand.
Daddy read to me about all the different kinds of beer they offered. It was really interesting. Mommy really liked the Espresso Beer. It sounds kind of gross, but she says it was surprisingly good.
Today, mommy put me in my Chicago Bears onsie. I don't know why they always dress me in football gear on Sundays. They won't even let me watch the game on TV. I really like all the lights on the TV, but mommy says it's bad for my brain development. Sometimes I wish she wasn't a doctor so I could do fun things :) --Max.

Golden

We took our first road trip into the Mountains on Tuesday looking for some fall colors. We didn't see many fall colors since most of the trees are evergreens, but we did see some good scenery. We stopped and had lunch in Golden on the way and saw the Coors factory. My parents have an inside connection to the Coors factory, so we may be able to go on a private tour next week when they are in town :) I'm looking forward to some freshly made Blue Moon.

The tale of Spike

We gave my parents some tickets to the Midway at the State Fair that we didn't get a chance to use. And, my dad won Spike! He thoughtfully gave Spike to Max. Spike had quite the journey from the Minnesota State Fair to Colorado. Here are some pictures...

Spike didn't fit very well in the mustang, so he had to ride with his head out of the window on the way home from the fair. There wasn't much room in Mike's truck for Spike to ride to Colorado, but we managed to squeeze him in the front seat. At least Mike had company for the 14 hour drive.

Spike now stands guard with Kili in the front window of our house. I wonder if our neighbors think we're weird.

On another note, we've found a barkless dog in our neighborhood. He lives on one of the trails and barks nonstop when people go by. I'm not sure the barkless version is any better than the real thing, because he still barks but it just sounds like he has a hoarse voice. I wonder if the HOA made him become barkless...

We recently went to Great-grandma's, or as she likes to be called, GG's birthday party. Max got all dressed up for the party in his Interlachen polo shirt and Calvin Klein shorts...I just love kids clothes :). Max was a hit with the 70 guests...but, GG was the real star of the party!

Kili and Max are slowly becoming friends. Or, to be more precise, Kili is slowly warming up to Max and will now sit with us if we're holding Max. He used to move as far away as possible from Max. Can you blame him? Max stole his spot as the baby of the family :)

Munyon Cabin Weekend

We have been going to the cabin for a week with the Munyon girls ever since I can remember. This year, Max got to join in on the fun. New house

We're moving to Colorado in less than a month! Here's a picture of our new house. We took Max house hunting 2 weeks ago, he was great on the plane. What a relief :)

Max and Erin: they will get to spend a lot of quality time together in the future since Erin and Marshall will practically be our neighbors.

Max's first trip of many to Summit County. He got to hang out with Dan and Jess in their new condo. Max doesn't know it yet, but he's going to become quite the snowboarder :)
